Localised heavy rain expected for much of the coast.
Weather Situation A trough along the NSW coast is expected to deepen tonight and Sunday with showers tending to more widespread rain, locally heavy between about Port Macquarie and Narooma along the coastal fringe. A low is likely to develop off the north coast Sundaynight and may deepen and move towards the central part of the coast during Monday with further heavy rainfall expected for the warning area, possibly extending to the eastern ranges. Gale force winds and large seas may also develop for part of the coast duringMonday.
Heavy rain and thunder may lead to localised flash flooding in the Metropolitan, Hunter, Illawarra, southern parts of the Mid North Coast, and northern parts of the South Coast forecast districts tonight then becoming more likely for Sunday and Monday.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water. Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500.
