There is a small but appreciative crowd in the hall and they are very attentive.
ChaosCentral has been to the Festival in the past, in 2005. Although times have changed, the Festival still has some wonderful characteristics, uncommon on the mainland. For example, significant numbers of dancers, especially in the teams sections, are not youngsters; many are parents of dancers or possibly older but there is an important issue here - they are all having fun!
Unlike most mainland competitions, the dancers appear more relaxed, they enjoy the dancing but aren't stressed by details. Many of the older male dancers wear regular black business shoes, nicely polished and looking good, but there isn't the need for dancing shoes. Everyone has a smile on their face and it isn't a stage smile, they appear to be genuinely happy and relaxed to be dancing.
