17 & over treble reel in marshalling

Posted by Picasa

17 & over dancers are in marshalling for the warm up treble reel

Quite a big crowd of happy and talkative dancers :)

We are running early!!

So, there will be a shorter lunch, and then straight into the 17 and over age groups......

ChaosCentral has flights to catch this evening so if the feis runs past 1800, we will not be here to provide commentary, camera or photos :(

15 & 16 years presentations will be any time from now.....

Feis update

We are in a wonderful venue, the seating is excellent, the food is great, the stage is reported to be great.....but where are all the people to watch?  For some reason, the hall is only sparsely populated, the friends and extended families aren't here - what a pity!

Intermediate 15 & 16 Years are marshalling for their Traditional Set dances

The 15 & 16 Years Open will shortly marshall for their set dances, then we will have presentations.

15 Years & 16 Years are doing their soft shoe round

Intermediate 15 & Over have been called to marshalling for their soft shoe round

The dancer who slipped and re-danced is receiving advice from her peers backstage about whether she should continue into the soft shoe round - she is very determined as are most dancers!

Some 16 Yearsin marshalling

And the dancer who slipped has returned to the stage to complete their hard shoe dance.

13 Years Recall set dances now on stage

Still about an hour late.....

Recalls - Open 13 Years

1, 5, 6, 7, 9, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20

And, PM photos now available on www.swoose.net

14 years soft shoe round is about to get underway

Then we will have the sets - although the adjudicators and musician haven't been fed and watered for a while, perhaps they will eat on the job?  Easier for the adjudicators than for Sean :)

13 & 14 Years now dancing their soft shoe round

Starting with the Intermediates, then the Open.  The hall is very quiet, mainly because there are not many people here other than the age groups and their "support crews".

There have been whispers of magnificent after-parties for later tonight and ChaosCentral will be diligent in finding and attending them - if we can!

13 & 14 Years have been called to marshalling for their soft shoe round

13 & 14 Years still dancing their hard shoe round

And slowly but surely, this afternoons photos are digitally finding their way to www.swoose.net for your viewing pleasure :)

The hall is only about 25% full at this time, there is an excellent running commentary on LiveCam along with quite a nice view of the marshalling area and all the dancers milling about.

Gourmet food update

The CK futures have suffered a 50% crop loss - either that, or someone has been eating them.  It could be ChaosCentral, ably assisted by Julia and others......and thanks to Julia for foraging for food that provided ChaosCentral with a late lunch.  Ever vigilant on the diet front, the request for a toasted sandwich or fish and chips was returned as grilled fish with steamed vegetables :)

Feis update
The feis is running approximately 1 hour late - this is quite normal for the GCF and if it was running on time, questions may be asked in parliament.

13 & 14 Years now dancing

Starting with the Intermediate and working our way through the Open section.

The "re-presentation" occurred a few moments ago but as non of the dancers were in costume and many were very comfortably dressed (that is code for wearing things that would get ChaosCentral into severe trouble if published on the site), no photos were taken.

11 & 12 Years Intermediate are having another presentation

Apparently, the computer had a conniption and some dancers either missed out on a prize or were in the wrong place.....more information when/if it comes to hand :)

11 & 12 Years competition has finished, presentations soon

This will be followed by the 13 & 14 Years

Feis update

We are having a small break whilst dancers change shoes and adjudicators regain composure after a long morning and post-lunch session :)

Also, this morning's photos are now available on www.swoose.net

11 & 12 Years in marshalling

11 & 12 Years have been called to marshalling for their set dances

The Intermediate are doing Traditional Sets, three at a time

The 12 Years will be dancing individual sets, which will be followed by presentations.

The hard show rounds have finished for the 11 & 12 Years

They are now back in marshalling for their soft shoe rounds, and everyone gets to do their set dance as there are no recalls for these two age groups.

11 & 12 Years are now on stage!!

Starting with the Intermediate dancers, then the Open sections....we are at the hard shoe rounds at the moment.

Technology Update
During the previous presentations, LiveCam experienced an intermittent failure, technically known as a hissy fit.  The camera has been spoken to sternly and is expected to behave for the remainder of the day.

Gourmet Food Update
During the previous presentations, lunch was served - well, I saw people eating lunch but ChaosCentral will be setting off to forage for sustenance.  Chocolate crackles alone are not enough, and Julia has made off with half the supply in a bid to "look after the waistline and health of ChaosCentral".  More reports on gourmet food if and when it comes to hand.

Results and presentations

They have come and gone for this morning's session!!

Results will be posted *after* the weekend, as they are available for sale over the weekend.

Don't forget, when you purchase the results you also get the marks, so don't hold back waiting to get them free from here.....the marks are only available when you purchase the results at the feis.

Happy birthday Maureen Onesti!!!!

9 & 10 Years are doing their Set Dances

And whilst ChaosCentral was off photographing dancers, a psychedelic screen saver kicked in, providing LiveCam viewers with some interesting images - possibly wondering if the feis had tripped off into some other dimension......fear not, we are still here at Tweed Heads and if we relocate to Byron Bay, we will let you know :)

Feis update

Dancers in the 9 & 10 Years are meandering into marshalling, so the announcer has called for them to get into marshalling NOW!! Or else!!

ChaosCentral is off to photograph the dancers for a while.....check for section updates on LiveCam.

The 10 Years Open Championship dancers are now on stage

They are finishing their hard shoe round, dancing three at a time, whilst the 9 Years are marshalling their soft shoes.

Sean the muso is in fine form, providing lively music for all the dancers.  Cappuccinos and lattes are beginning to appear in the audience, heralding the fact that the club has finally opened the cafe near the auditorium.

9 & 10 Years in marshalling

Intermediates are on stage now and they will be followed by the Open Championship dancers.

Chocolate crackle futures

There appears to be a developing secondary market for chocolate crackle (code:CK) futures.  In an official trade today with Jennifer Oxenham, the starting trade ratio was set as 1 red frog (code:RF) to 1 CK.

This development is expected to cement CK and possibly RF as base currencies on the Irish Dancing secondary boards and may prompt a run on CK.  The market regulator (ChaosCentral) has been informed of the developments and is pondering the issue.  Other market players including jelly beans (code:JB), mints (code:PM) and green frogs (code:GF) are expected to be traded in the near future.

And in feis updates, the 9 & 10 Years are now on stage.

9 & 10 Years in marshalling

We are having a short break for morning tea, the next sections will start soon.

8 Years & Under sections have finished

Some wonderful dancing was watched by a small but appreciative crowd.  The 9 & 10 Years will be on next and around 1230 there will be presentations and prizes.

Gourmet food update
Many thanks to Maddie Davis who made a wonderful gift box of chocolate crackles.  ChaosCentral will devour them with glee!

And the vendors are here too!

Welcome to the Gold Coast Feis

And what a wonderful start to the day!!  The technology is working, the sun is shining and ChaosCentral has a slight idea of what is going on - now, that is a change :)

We are in the showroom of the Twin Towns Resort at Tweed Heads NSW - and if one steps outside the wrong door and crosses the road, one is in QLD and not NSW!  The venue is a very large show venue, with excellent seating, a large stage and plenty of food and drink from the various outlets at the venue.

Feis information is available from http://sites.google.com/site/goldcoastfeis/home

The adjudicators for the feis are:

  • Anthony Commerford ADCRG (USA);
