The 15 Years Boy who slipped on stage has withdrawn; the 15 Years Girl who slipped is re-dancing now.

He has walked himself from the stage....also just announced "OK, forget the dancing, we are going to turn this into a singing competition!"

She was assisted side-stage by St John's Ambulance and it appears that she will be OK to dance.  While there is a break, Craig Henderson has done a fine job of sweeping the stage and making things ship-shape, or perhaps at least stage-shape!

 From Miss Cathy:  "I am pleased to report that I have been up & about this morning, have sat for a while to catch up on some TV & will shortly be resuming my live cam coverage from my lap top...its been very stressful not being able to attend the Championships but seeing my dancers side stage & at the presentations has really helped."

And we are back...

As usual, ChaosCentral was incorrect in its summary of the situation - the problem was not one of audio technical issues, but dancing speed.  The musician wasn't informed of the speed for the dancer and hence the dancer was allowed to stop and then redance at the correct speed.

Feis update

The musician has suddenly stopped mid dance in the 12 Years Boys.  There appears to be a technical problem with the audio - there is none.  More news when it comes to hand.

Technology update

ChaosCentral has received information that the LiveCam broadcast is less than perfect - actually, very poor and jerky (much like ChaosCentral itself).

All technology involved has received a stern talking-to and has also been reset and, in some cases, physically moved.  As it is technology, none of this may make any difference as the problem could be due to the weather, the dancing music, the quality of the electrons involved, the skill of ChaosCentral - the list goes on.

So, we will try to bring you a high-quality service, even without the power and sustenance of real coffee and chocolate crackles. :)

ChaosCentral received a lovely tray of cupcakes - thanks Trish!  Having scanned the Town Hall quite thoroughly, we can report that there is no cappuccino machine in site, but instant coffee is plentiful :(

Gourmet Food Update:
There is an amazing assortment of hot food, Greek, Lebanese, Turkish etc, and lots of fresh salads, other hot food, exotic breads and other delicacies.  Unfortunately, they are outside at a food/cultural festival now underway in front of the Town Hall.

As you may recall, no outside food is allowed in to the Town Hall, so if you wish fine dining here or healthy food for your dancers, you will have to settle for pies, sausage rolls and the like.

Feis update

Some 7 Years dancers just exhibited maturity and skill beyond their years!  The musician finished a couple of bars early and the very young dancers, visibly confused, continued dancing, without music, until their steps were completed.  This was met with rousing cheers and applause by the audience!

Feis update

We are about half way through the 10 Years set dances.  In a hall-temperature update, the apparent temperature has moved up from Melbourne on a winter's day to Canberra at 0600 on a spring morning.  Many hats have been removed and coats loosened, but the scarves remain firmly in place!

10 Years set dances have just started

About 20 to dance, followed by the 7 Years and 8 Years.  At this point, we are running approximately 1 hour late.....

They will be followed by 21 dancers in the 10 Years.

As you may have noticed, there are no boys dancing in either the 9 Years or 10 Years sections.

Feis update

The temperature in the hall is slowly rising - it has moved from arctic to just very cold - think Melbourne on a winter's day.  On the other hand, most people are attired in very stylish jackets and scarves, even a couple of hats scattered amongst the crowd.  It is almost like fashion week for Irish Dancing.

The 9 Years soft shoe round has finished, next will be the 10 Years soft shoe round, followed by the certificate presentations.

Dancing has commenced!!

Here at ChoasCentral, we pride ourselves on professionalism, attention to detail and thoroughness.  That doesn't mean that it actually happens, as was just the case with the LiveCam audio.

When there is no dancing, I mute the audio so that back stage conversations remain private.  Of course, the dancing commenced and I forgot to un-mute the audio - DOH!!!!!!
