Last dancers now on stage, presentations for 11 years and 8 years & under will follow

8 years & under are now doing their set dances

Presentations are due about 1030, so we are around 15 minutes late, but should get back on time quickly.

More people are entering the auditorium for some of the larger age groups and the buzz is starting to increase.

Feis update

At last!!!  The cafe has opened and the first caffeine fix of the day has arrived.  Along with a toasted ham and cheese croissant, breakfast is now done!

The 8 years and under are on stage now and, if you are watching LiveCam, you cans see them in marshalling.  However, die to the poor light, you might need the eyesight of an owl to pick up details....perhaps I need a better low-light camera?

This section is dancing three at a time on the stage and there is a small but attentive crowd watching them.  There are also quite a few new dancing parent here, getting into the swing of the feis scene and enjoying the atmosphere.  A quick scan of the auditorium finds five fathers...the numbers are slowly increasing :)

The dancers are now returning to marshalling ready for their soft shoe dances.

8 years & under Premiership now starting

The 7 years & under are competing for the Aine Hamilton Perpetual Trophy, donated by Aine Hamilton and there are two dancers in this section.

The 8 years are competing for the Shane Podesta Memorial Trophy, donated by Matthew Podesta and there are five dancers in this section.

11 years have now started their set dances

Feis update

Unusually for an early morning start, the auditorium is not very full and also not very noisy.  Perhaps the younger age groups that follow this section are yet to arrive?

Feis update

The 11 years have almost completed their hard shoe round and are changing shoes for their soft shoe round.

The adjudicator for this feis is Kathleen McAleer ADCRG.

Almost ready....

The marshalling area is quite dark, so the LiveCam pictures will be of variable quality.  Also, until the feis starts, LiveCam will broadcast without sound as they are still organising things.

It is a very cool Sydney morning, although for our Canberra competitors it is positively balmy at about 7C. The feis is held at the St Mary's Band Club, a wonderful establishment with excellent facilities, including good coffee and food.  Today, the coffee service will start at about 0930, so there many be some (more) erratic comments until the caffeine fix arrives!

The 11 years Premiership is about to start

There are 11 dancers competing for the Broderick Family Trophy, donated by Barbara Grupetta.

Also competing will be the 11 years Elementary, with 4 dancers.

Welcome to the Penrith Valley Feis

Today's timetable is as follows:

The Easter Feis is over for another year

It was a wonderful feis and we enjoyed bringing you the LiveCommentary and LiveCam, even though there were a couple of technical difficulties.

Neither LiveCommentary nor LiveCam will be at the Canberra feis, but we look forward to providing this service to you in two weeks time at the Penrith Valley Feis.

Dancers now doing their soft shoe round - last set of dances for the feis!

They are dancing two at a time.

The last two sections are now dancing - these are the Premiership sections for the 17 & over

They are doing their hard shoe round now, so an estimated finishing time for this feis is around 19:30 or so...

17 & over are now dancing....we are running about 20 minutes late, which is still on-time in ID!

The hall is quite empty, it is disappointing that the younger dancers can't/don't stay to watch the older dancers at their peak.  But the audience who is here is very appreciative of the dancers.

Feis update

We are part way through the second last section of the day and we are still on-time!  The hall has fewer people in it now, the younger age groups have departed and the 15/16 years have some people rushing off to the Debutante practice.

Still a good atmosphere and, gee, can't the 13 & 14 years dancers make a noise on stage!

Gourmet food update:

Well, nothing really.  The real coffee service started about 10:00 as expected, no bacon & egg rolls available for breakfast, but plenty of the usual food available during the day, including a beef, bacon & mushroom pie that looked very appetising, and lambs fry & bacon for the more traditional amongst you.

Not a chocolate crackle to be seen - or heard :(

4, 5 & 6y sections have finished

Presentations will be in the lounge in about five minutes, 11 & 12years have been called to marshalling.

Feis update

4, 5 & 6 years are dancing three at a time, sometimes in pairs.  For many, this is their first competition and certainly their first year dancing.  Those watching and listening to LiveCam will hear that the hall is very quiet when they are on stage.  They are all dancing beautifully and, even at this age, are better than your correspondent will ever be - in any form of dance!

The hall is still very full, with only a few spare seats.  The lunch menu contains the usual ID health food specialties, and LiveCommentary enjoyed a high-fibre vegetarian lunch common to many dancers - chips & gravy.

Remember to tell your dancers to stop by the LiveCam and wave hello!

Breaking news!!

The two hall system is working so well, we are running about 15-20 minutes early - so if you are reading this and you are yet to compete - hurry up!!

8y Premiership in marshalling for their soft shoe round

Presentations will follow this in the lounge area - this will not be broadcast on LiveCam.

8y Premiership are about to dance their hard shoe round

Feis update

Now dancing the hard shoe round of the 7y Premiership, the 8y have just been called to marshalling.

Now dancing section 29, this age group finishes at section 31

Presentations are being held at the same time as dancing, but in a different location.  LiveCam can only stream a single location so it will continue to stream the main hall.  Why?  Because to dismantle the system and move it to presentations, then do the reverse and bring it back, is just too difficult as I am also taking presentation photos at the same time.

I will work on the physics of being in two places at one time - perhaps ZandB can give me a hand with this :)

Now dancing Girls 9 years Premiership 2nd round

10 years Girls Premiership now dancing...

Three at a time on the stage, sounds very loud at close range!

Now dancing the soft shoe rounds

They are dancing three at a time on the stage.

Gourmet food update:

Penrith Gaels is a traditional Irish Club and usually has fantastic food as well as cappuccinos from early in the morning.  This year, however, the good coffee is not yet available, it looks as if they have reverted to the 10:00 AM opening times of old, so the sixty or so parents here won't get a good coffee.  But perhaps more interestingly, the income from those people has been foregone.....maybe next year?

And no chocolate crackles....

We are at section 7

This age group dances until section 19, after which there will be presentations.  Dancers are doing two steps for this age group.

Remember, LiveCommentary & LiveCam are sponsored by Exetel. For Business Internet Networking Solutions call Niamh Champion at 02 8030 1079

Feis update

The hall is very full!!  There are no spare seats and there are some people sitting out in the lounge area, coming in from time to time to check on the dancing.  The younger age groups are very popular and well supported and today's adjudicator is Jan Berne ADCRG.

The 9 & 10 years are doing their hard shoe round, dancing either two or three at a time on stage.

Easter Feis has started!

We are at the Penrith Gaels this morning, having driven through 45 minutes of fog to arrive at this welcoming club.  The auditorium is very full, with all the younger age groups starting this morning.
