Certificate presentations have finished
Set dances will start when the adjudicators return. For those interested, the chocolate crackles really hit the spot and would have to be the best food available in the area.
Senior's second round is finished
They will now do their sets - there are approximately 44 dancers to do their sets - so we are still probably 90 minutes late.
All first round dances have finished
The seniors are now marshalling for their soft shoe round and have started dancing with the 17 Years men.
BREAKING NEWS!!!
The chocolate crackle drought has been relieved by the wonderful Daniella who made and brought in a whole batch - oh joy!!!
First round dances are continuing
All senior age groups are dancing interleaved, they are about to start the Men 19 & 20, which means there are approximately another 21 dancers to complete their first round in all senior age groups, then back to the 17 years for the soft shoe round.

Junior Mens 18 Years, there are three dancers competing for the Joyce Trophy donated by John Joyce TCRG and the Kathleen & William Douglas Memorial Cup donated by Margaret Rox.
Junior Ladies 18 Years, there are seven dancers competing for The Marcelle Bird Cup and The Hilda Walton Memorial Tiara.
Mens 19 & 20 Years, there is one dancer competing for the Jimmy Costello Memorial Trophy sponsored by Rhythms of Ireland.

Gradam award presentation
Jan Berne, Maureen Whelan and Brendan Tiernan were just honoured with local recognition of the Gradam Award, which they were presented at Philadelphia this year. Jan Currie-Henderson made a heart warming speech outlining each of their contributions to Irish Dancing in Australia and they were each presented with a small token of appreciation.
It is only when one hears about this history that one can truly appreciate the commitment and hard work put in by teachers over 50 years.

Not sure what is happening next as there have been no announcements. According to the program, we are 90 minutes late.
Set dances are about half way through
And now the hall is filling with the remaining age groups - there are frocks and make-up for the 17 Years through to Open Senior, although the sections are quite small.
We are running behind time as the adjudicators asked for the 14 Years dancers to dance two at a time, rather than three at a time.
There are quite a few visiting resting dancers, familiar faces who haven't danced recently but who could, if asked, get on stage and do a quick jig. Mostly they are from the older age groups and it is nice that they have come to support their friends.
Gourmet food report - there is none! Small note to people who manage events and sites - Irish Dance parents are well known for their love of good coffee; if you don't supply it within your venue, it is possible to hire a van who will provide it at no cost to you. The Claddagh Feis does this very successfully. Just think of how much happier patrons could be and also think of what sort of commission you could make at no cost to yourselves?
And now extend that concept to good food.....

An adjudicator has rung the bell very loudly
They want the stage to be cleaned and swept, and several AIDA teachers have done just that, getting a bounty of hair pins, diamantes and stuff not further described.
