Gourmet food report
Having sampled the bacon & egg rolls and cappuccinos, we are pleased to report that they are of the usual high standard, including nice runny eggs - be sure to eat the rolls leaning forwards!

Welcome to Saturday at the McAleer Feis

A very crisp morning greets us in Frankston - it is actually colder in the hall than outside as the heating is yet to take effect.  However some hardy souls have already braved the elements for a morning constitutional - ChaosCentral's spys noted that our musician, Sean O'Brien, was up with the early birds and having a run along the bay - keeping company with all the Tour de France aspirants all along the roads :)

Today is a very full schedule and we look forward to some wonderful dancing from the younger age groups.  As this is written, the canteen is yet to open and the cappuccino cart is yet to arrive.  But never fear dear reader, on your behalf we will seek out the bacon and egg rolls and cappuccinos and sample them just so we can bring you a first hand gourmet food update!

ChaosCentral has repaired to the bolt-hole known as Quest Frankston and uploaded all the photos to www.swoose.net;  the evening meal of Sauvignon Blanc seems to have disappeared (where are the Oxenhams when you need them?) so we will make do with toast.

Just announced - canteen is closing at 2100 and the cappuccino cart is gone until tomorrow morning :(

They make *great* bacon & egg rolls here and the cappuccino is excellent, so bring on tomorrow morning!

Technology update

Ah, how we love Frankston - home of the dodgiest 3G connectivity we have dealt with.

So, there are presently three (count them - 3) internet connections attempting to provide you with LiveCam and LiveCommentary; Optus 3G, Telstra 3G and Telstra 4G.

As we sit here tearing out our hair, the signal strength on ALL of them on three different devices varies from 3/5 to 0/5 - and when it gets to 0/5, the internet connection stops and LiveCam drops.  So we apologise for the interruptions, but we are at our technical limits :(

Feis update

One of the adjudicators, Elizabeth Howe ADCRG, has met with an accident that has caused her to be unable to adjudicate tonight.  She is well and may be able to adjudicate later in the weekend.

In the interim, Christine Portbury ADCRG has stepped in to carry the load - probably an unexpected Friday night activity :)

And now that the feis is starting, LiveCam will show something other than the stage....

Welcome to the 2013 McAleer Feis

A "mild" evening greets us at the 15th Annual McAleer Open irish Dancing Championships.  The competition is held at the Performing Arts Centre of Elisabeth Murdoch High School, which is an amazing facility with a great stage, lighting, excellent seating and above all, heating :)  ChaosCentral loves the "mild" victorian weather, but heating is a must!

This year, the competition is starting on Friday night, which means that the burgeoning competitor list can compete but not finish at midnight.  It also means the traditional Friday night preparation meal is…..missing this year :(
