New dancers and "old hands"!

Posted by Picasa

Sunday at the NSW AIDA St Patrick's Day Premiership and Graded Feis

The canteen is ready, a new batch of chocolate crackles have arrived - and been quality tested by ChaosCentral - and the day will be underway in another 30 minutes.

This morning we have the smallest and youngest memners of the Irish Dancing community, many in their first competition, while others are old hands, having competed last year!

As I keep saying, it is these age groups that are the future or Irish Dancing in Australia and it is important that all of us support them, their parents and teachers to ensure that they enjoy the dancing and keep going.

Last section of the day!!

Tomorrow we start at 10:00, so LiveCam and LiveCommentary will once again be online around that time.

13 & 14 Years called to marshalling for their soft shoe round of the Premiership

Results and presentations after that!

Feis update

There has been an extended pause due to a dancer slipping and some problems with dancers not being ready.  However, the show is now back on the road with the 14 Years in stage doing their hard show dance in the Premiership.

9 Years Premiership dancers now in marshalling

And very excited they are too :)

The remaining warm-up sections have been called to marshalling

Feis update

We seem to be running on time and, as ChaosCentral has a little spare time, it has been used getting the photos into some order for their appearance on www.swoose.net later tonight - certainly after 2200!

Whilst doing this we suddenly noticed that it was quiet, the adjudicators weren't ringing the bell other than for the end of a dance.  Searching the horizon, and LiveCam views have the same view as your humble correspondent, the place is somewhat empty as there are only the families and support groups for the last age groups of the day.  Much quieter indeed :)

The warm-ups have only another five sections to dance, then on to the Premierships, results and presentations.

It is cooler in the hall now, even though there has been an influx of 13 & 14 Years dancers getting ready and generally spraying glitter and hair product around the place.

More smiling faces

Just starting Section 55 Elementary reel 9/10
Looks like we are about 15 minutes behind schedule.  Which in Irish parlance is an insignificant deviation from the norm.

9 & 10 Years now on stage

They are working their way through the warm-up dances and there is also a lot of toe-tapping going on in the hall!

Today's gourmet food was provided by the Maher School, tomorrow will be another school trying to uphold the high standard set today.

9 & 10 Years now marshalling

As the "more experienced" age groups head towards the stage, the audience has again been asked to please keep the noise down.

Those watching LiveCam at http://www.livestream.com/australianirishdancing will notice that the hall is quite full and that the audience are fanning themselves.  It is warm out there today and no means of cooling the hall other than opening doors to allow the breeze in :)

Feis update

ChaosCentral has been joined by a member of Scoil Rince Aisling who is now giving editorial advice to this LiveCommentary.  In her opinion (anonymously), we need to blog more detail of what is happening, so here goes....

The adjudicators have requested quiet as we are in a school hall with wooden floors that amplify the sound.  The organisers have asked the public to try to be quiet and they complied - for about 30 seconds.

So, all the news that is fit to print, anonymous advice giver.

Happy now Thea?

Feis faces

And the final dancers in the warm-up sections have been called to marshalling.  The Premiership dances will start soon!

Feis update

Lunch was glorious and even as this is types, we are enjoying a sausage sandwich.  Note to self, clean keyboard later.

7 & 8 Years are now doing their warm-up dances, which will be followed by their soft shoe and hard shoe Premiership rounds.  Lots of dancers in these sections and quite a few new faces as well!

For those arriving later or tomorrow, there is plenty of parking at the school and the venue is the school hall - down the driveway and the building on the right.  Also, there is no airconditioning in the hall, so dress comfortably as it can become warm and humid :)

12 years now doing their soft shoe dance

A little break

We are about to start the Premiership section, but the adjudicators are furiously scribbling away, so I guess there will be a small delay until they are ready.  At least they are well supplied with cups of tea, water and entertainment!!

More feis updates

We are now back to hard shoe dances, with the anticipation of set dances to come.  Until we fix a small Picasa bug, there won't be any photos on LiveCommentary - but we are working on a solution :)

Gourmet food update:
The food from the canteen looks marvellous and ChaosCentral was gifted several chocolate crackles this morning that seem to have made good their escape!

Feis update

There is nothing like onsite, real time, real world testing to show that all the best plans can come undone!

ChaosCentral is back online, having found that the equipment that tested perfectly acceptably in Castle Chaos decided that it wasn't interested in working on the banks of the Nepean.  Having uttered many stern words and removed all electrons from the offending devices, we are now back in the real, or Irish Dancing, world :)

The 11 & 12 Years are still dancing their soft shoe round and we look to be on-track with time too!

he dancing is underway

The 11 & 12 Years are doing their warm-up dances, the stage is producing a great sound and the audience can hear every treble :)

Gourmet Food update
ChaosCentral is ideally positioned to bring you the latest details as we have set-up right in front of the door to the Chinese restaurant within the Concord RSL.  So well positioned that we expect to be move3d along once they open!  The Bistro is open for cappuccinos and lattes, and at 1145 they are open for food. Despite an extensive search, not a single chocolate crackle was sighted.
