THE MICHAEL FLATLEY TEACHERS PERPETUAL AWARD

Michael Flatley has been hailed an Irish dance genius. With World championship titles under his belt, Michael chased his dream and, with relentless drive & dedication, revolutionised Irish dance on a global scale. His passion saw a seven-minute interval piece at the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest wow 300 million people around the world.  “Riverdance” was born and, since then, his innovative choreography, desire to push the boundaries and to never ever give up, has brought us “Lord of The Dance”, “Feet of Flames” & “Celtic Tiger”.

Through his association with one of Queensland’s biggest fans – “Aunty” Ann Hoey – Michael Flatley has generously donated a trophy to be presented at our State Championships. This perpetual award recognises the hard work, commitment and choreographic talents of Queensland’s teachers and their dancers. This year the Michael Flatley Award will be presented to the winning teachers in the following 2015 Championship Section:

Under 15 Mixed Reel In Couples

AIDA Queensland extends its heartfelt thanks to Michael Flatley for his kind donation and for his fervent support of Irish dancing around the globe. Thanks also to “Aunty Ann” for continuing to promote Queensland and its talented dancers to the rest of the world.
